Raised in Longview, TX., Monte Pittman made the bold decision at only 24 to move to L.A. to pursue a career as a professional musician. Upon arrival in LA, he made ends meet by working at a local Guitar Center. Realizing he was better at teaching than selling, he left to start providing guitar lessons.

As fate would have it, his third student would end up being British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, who had just received a guitar from his girlfriend, Madonna. Soon after, Monte was introduced to the iconic performer, and became her guitar teacher as well. A month later, Monte was invited to join Madonna on stage at the David Letterman Show to promote her album, Music.

Monte has since played on every live tour starting with her 2001 Drowned World Tour to sharing writing credits on songs like “Easy Ride,” “Hey You” and “It's So Cool” from 2009's Celebration.

Monte has also played guitar and bass for the Industrial Rock band Prong. He is credited with co-writing songs on Scorpio Risingfrom 2003 and co-writing/co-producing their 2007 album, Power of the Damager, to which he also added backing vocals and bass. Monte is currently the lead guitarist and music director for Adam Lambert's live band, and recently toured on the Glam Nation Tour. His rock influence is evident in Lambert's more recent live performances. Fingers fly on the fretboard during electric solos, while his acoustic skills are showcased in the stripped-down arrangements of Adam's songs.

In November 2009, Monte released his debut solo album, The Deepest Dark, which features 11 acoustic songs. Almost a year after its release, a special bonus version of The Deepest Dark was released and immediately reached the No. 1 spot on the Best-Selling Acoustic Albums list on CD- Baby.com. It was also No. 9 in the Top 10 Best-Selling CDs for the autumn of 2010.

The prodigious performer is as versatile as he is talented. He continues to be in high demand as a live musician, singer, songwriter and producer/co-producer. He is currently getting ready to release his second album, Pain, Love & Destiny, Oct. 3.

This year, his Kickstarter campaign raised a staggering $65,500, making him the top rock musician to ever raise the most money on the Kickstarter crowd-funding platform. Monte met his initial goal of $5,000 in under 24 hours.

We at Jarrell Guitars are incredibly excited to welcome Monte Pittman to our family of talented endorsers. He is playing 3 Jarrell’s at the moment. JZH-1 Flamz Pr, JZS-1 Gold, and the newest addition, the JZS-1 MPS Proto type

“Phillip Jarrell and Jarrell Guitars is hands down the absolute best new guitar maker to come on the scene,” said Monte. “There is a distinct and inspiring sound that comes out of these instruments and it’s time for the guitar market to be refreshed and reinvented. I miss mine when it’s not around and I haven’t felt that way for far too long.”

October 3, 2011 Release date for "Pain, Love & Destiny".
Monte Pittman’s newest album, is a sonic narrative that brings each listener into a world where they are each asked to confront their own fate, good or bad, and their eventual death – and rebirth.

Pittman last left off with his debut album, The Deepest Dark, an acoustic album that was very much thematically and sonically black and white, starting off cold and leaving the listener with warmth and love at the end. “Pain, Love & Destiny is kind of like when The Wizard of Oz turns into color,” he says of his newest album.

The album is expected to be a musical reinvention of sorts for the artist, and will come as quite a departure in sound and scope from his debut album.

Enhanced by electric guitar, synths and piano, this album features spiraling and at times soaring guitar solos, frenzied guitar structures, harmonies and an infusion of 1970s Southern California sunny Americana rock, blaring 80s stadium rock and 90s alternative rock.

The album transitions between introspective ballads and aggressive, at times sex-fueled rock anthems. Pittman, a guitar virtuoso, powerfully dominates the listener with his versatility and mastery of the guitar – holding each listener in a delicate balance of suspense and surprise. His unique almost shaman- like, primal storytelling and music are at their best yet.

Two of the major themes that weave through Pain, Love & Destiny are about finding the brightest light in the darkest of places, and the old story of making a Faustian deal, or a deal with the devil at the crossroads. Throughout the album, the protagonist of the story is being chased by his own fate, which materializes midway through the album as a dark grim reaper-like figure in “(I Am) The Black Rabbit,” an epic 6-minute-long song about allowing the inevitable to happen, and is loosely inspired by the novel, Watership Down.

Beginning with haunting piano, the album then culminates in one of the most captivating and most beautiful songs on the record, the album’s closer, “Predetermined Destiny,” a Beatles-esque ballad, that brings the idea of embracing one’s fate full circle.
