With an early start in music (he was Gary U.S. Bonds Musical Director at age 13), Beauvoir moved to NYC right at the start of the punk rock explosion in the late 70’s where he became a founding member of the extravagant punk-rock group, The Plasmatics. This is where his signature and conspicuous Blond Mohawk first appeared. His exciting career has also included being in such projects as Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, and he has fronted the bands Voodoo X and Crown of Thorns (which was originally signed to Interscope Records for a much publicized record breaking deal). Both these hard rock groups have achieved significant worldwide success. Besides these projects he is also a platinum selling solo artist, and has produced and written songs for and with legendary artists such as KISS, The Ramones, The Pretenders, John Waite, Lionel Richie, N’Sync and others, selling over 30 million records worldwide throughout his career.

Beauvoir’s successful solo career was kicked off with the album Drums Along the Mohawk, released in the U.K. on Virgin Records in 1986. The track "Feel the Heat" was chosen by Sylvester Stallone for his movie Cobra, and the song became a hit in the U.S., reaching #73 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the strength of the single, Drums Along the Mohawk was released in the U.S. and peaked at #93 on the Billboard 200. Jean Beauvoir's success was even greater in the rest of the world; the single "Feel the Heat" charted top 10 across Europe and in Australia.

Beauvoir founded and serves as CEO/President of Voodoo Island Entertainment Group whose divisions included Voodoo Island records and Voodoo Island Productions. Over the course of his professional career, he has created joint venture partnerships with many titans of the music industry (e.g. Sir Richard Branson). Beauvoir is also the founder and CEO/President of Hot Boy Music and Tigre Noire Music, and served as CEO/Managing Director of Renegade Nation for 6 1/2 years - a company founded by chairman Little Steven Van Zandt.

In addition to his film music work with Sylvester Stallone, he has also composed title music for the films Pet Semetary, Shocker, Flawless, School of Rock, Christmas with the Kranks, The Guilty, RV, Rock and Roll High School Forever, and Berlin Nights.

Beauvoir’s worldwide music catalogue contains over 250 published titles currently administered by Rondor/Universal.

His current main project is Crown of Thorns, where he is the lead singer, guitar player, producer and main songwriter for this band. The other members are Tommy Lafferty, Michael Paige and Hawk Lopez.

"Filming for their new video! Check out that JZS-2 Warp Speed. Sure looks good on Jean!"

Crown of Thorns is a much lauded group that has been gigging and recording albums since the early 1990's. With all the elements that a Hard Rock band demands- infectious guitar riffs, soaring hooklines and great melodies- their sound is reminiscent of the '70's and '80's Classic Melodic Hard Rock genre. But Jean's voice is more versatile than most and has to be because his songwriting covers a wider range than the genre can hold. From his most intimate whispered vignettes filled with personal torment, to his vast epic sci-fi post-apocalyptic movie vistas, his songs capture you and transport you to another time and place. And the band is great enough to communicate the magic and the majesty of every emotional nuance.

The bands newest album Faith was recorded at the Mondrian Hotel on LA's Sunset Strip and released in the summer of 2009 through Little Steven Van Zandt's new label imprint Lost Cathedral and also through Sony Red. While Faith is the band’s first U.S. album, they have released several highly successful albums in Europe/Japan. Keeping the momentum going, the track “Rock Ready” from the new album is featured in MTV’s ROCK BAND game and the band just performed in New York, Spain, Gothenberg and Sweden this last April, and are booking more dates for 2011 and will begin the recording of a new album.
